"Exactly one year ago, last autumn, you took me to your big family - the United Nations. It`s an honor to be one of you. And I`m very grateful for opportunity being involved in global changes in the world,"- Valeriy Pysarenko welcomed the participants of the 26th session of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy on official reception hosted by the Ukrainian delegation at the Palas des Nations in Geneva.
As Vice-Chairman of the Bureau of the Group of Experts on Renewable Energy and Vice-Chairman of the Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency of the Committee on Sustainable Energy of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Valeriy Pysarenko shared his thoughts on UN reformation with colleagues.
"Let's be honest – UN reform, no matter how anybody may treat it, is absolutely inevitable. More than 70 years have passed since the foundation. The world has changed beyond recognition. UN needs transform itselves too. The UN activities must meet the challenges of the 21st century and correspond to the spirit of the times. I'm talking not just about strategic changes in the organization structure, but also about reforming the world order system, without which there is no future for the planet, " - the Politician mentioned.
According to Valeriy Pysarenko`s words, UNECE work organization should not lag behind the current speed of world development.
"To solve performance targets, to create and implement projects - promptly, taking into account all world trends, digital technologies, adaptive and smart solutions - this is our future task with you," - the Politician said.
Valeriy Pysarenko proposed to make visible the invisible work of the UN: "We form huge blocks of useful information, which is interesting not only to statistical services, specialized specialists, but also to the world community, the media. But in the form in which we publish it – it`s not available to people. Let's put a taboo on boring and long reports. Let's make the UNECE site - as popular as Bloomberg for financiers."
The politician called on his colleagues to join our forces, remaining faithful to our fundamental values and at the same time responding to the challenges of our times.
"Let`s work together to build a safer, more prosperous and more humane world for future generations," - Valeriy Pysarenko concluded his speech.
