People's deputy of Ukraine Valery Pysarenko, as a part of the Ukrainian delegation, participated in the Democratic National Convention in United States, which took place in late July in Philadelphia.
During the Congress Ukrainian delegation met with former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Director of the Institute for Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University and Meylan Verveera, Co-founder of Women Initiative "Seneca", the team of candidate for presidency in the USA responsible for foreign policy, experts of think tank.
Also meetings with representatives of other states, in particular, the Speaker of Georgian Parliament, David Uzupashvili, and Sweden, Urban Ahlin, with Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Daniel Mitov were held. Among the issues discussed: the pace of reform in Ukraine, cooperation with the EU and receiving of a visa-free regime, the deepening of cooperation with NATO and joint security measures in the Black Sea region.
At the Democratic National Convention, the Ukrainian delegation was paid special attention.
Ukrainian parliament, despite belonging to different factions, was defending a common position on the security interests of Ukraine and mentioned that the next US president should visit Ukraine, which was not for the two presidential terms of Barack Obama.
