Ukrainian men can get the right for parental leave

In Ukraine, it is planned to introduce social leave for men after the childbirth. Member of Ukrainian Parliament, Valeriy Pysarenko, appeared with such an initiative having registered the corresponding bill.

If the law is adopted, it will give the right to men for parental leave for 14 days. Men can take these days off only for the first two weeks after the birth of the child.

For the period of parental leave the position and salary are saved.

"All men who have children remember well how they had to get out of work many times for visiting their wife and child in the hospital and for buying medicines, clothes, diapers, cradles. The parental leave, though a short one, will greatly ease the life of newly mums, who have the lion's share of worries for caring for the newborn in the first days and months of his life," - Valeriy Pysarenko explains his proposal.

In case the mother of the child is a single mother, a grandmother, grandfather or other relative of the child who actually cares for the child and his mother will be able to get a 14-day parental leave.
