Member of Ukrainian Parliament Valeriy Pysarenko attended the opening of the 25th Session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva.
Over 70 experts from other countries gathered for the Session - members of the Economic Commission for Europe, as well as representatives of the initiative "Sustainable Energy for All", the Framework Convention of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the International Energy Agency, the International Agency for Renewable Energy and other organisations.
This year the goal of the Session is to enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to scientific and technological activities in the field of clean and renewable energy.
The first speaker Deputy Director of Energy Programs of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis Volker Krey wondered whether the countries will be able to work together to limit the global average temperature increase to 2 ° C. In his opinion it is real if all the countries will finally recognize the global renewable energy the goal of the world and begin to work together to achieve it.
UNECE delegations discussed the pathways to "green" economy and stated that support of the goals of sustainable development of the world - it is the obligation of each country.
The decisions of the 25th Session of the Committee will be agreed at level of the Energy Ministers on the 8th International Forum on Energy in Astana on June 11, 2017.
