About 8 thousand citizens of Kharkiv, among them 360 children with diabetes are at risk to remain without vitally important medication. The amount of insulin on the stock of Kharkiv hospitals will be enough only for the next 45 days.
According to the legislation of Ukraine – insulin is purchased at the expenses of local budgets. But today, the anticipated budget shortfall for 2017 in Kharkiv is UAH 1,6 billion. Under such conditions, local authorities are not able to allocate additional UAH 32 million 596 thousand needed to cover all the patients with insulin till the end of this year.
In this regard, Member of Ukrainian Parliament, Valeriy Pysarenko addressed to the government with a request not to endanger the lives of patients and to provide Kharkov city with funding needed to purchase Insulin.
"I want to emphasize that diabetes mellitus refers to the global medical and social problems and is the primary tasks of national health systems. Therefore, if there are lethal cases due to deficiency of insulin, all responsibility will lie on us", - the Parliamentarian said.
